Microtonality opens up new worlds of sound and expression. The Huygens-Fokker Foundation – Centre for Microtonal Music – has been committed for decades to preserving this musical richness, making it accessible and bringing it to life. We do this with love, expertise and dedication. But this mission is vulnerable. That is why we need your support to continue our work.
With your support, we maintain unique instruments such as the 31-tone Fokker organ and the 96-tone Carrillo piano, we organise concerts for a wide audience around microtonality and other alternative tunings in various musical styles, and we give presentations and lectures on microtonality. The concerts also provide an important platform for contemporary composers, performers and listeners who wish to venture beyond the well-trodden musical paths.
We also invest in the maintenance of our extensive website, which serves as an international knowledge centre for microtonality and alternative tunings. Here, interested parties can find in-depth information, historical sources, sound fragments and scores – all freely accessible to everyone. In addition, our physical library and archive form an invaluable resource for researchers, students and musicians.

  • an adopted organ pipe with certificate; the larger the amount, the larger the organ pipe!
  • the playing of your adopted Fokker organ pipe by yourself, with the assistance of an H-F staff member.
  • the digital newsletter of the Foundation sent to you, containing, among other things, concert announcements.
  • the receipt of updates on recently released music videos of H-F, if desired.
  • the Thirty-One Journal of the Foundation with articles on microtonal music sent to you by e-mail.

Adoption of a Fokker organ pipe

The adoption policy of the Huygens-Fokker Foundation for adopting Fokker organ pipes is as follows. When adopting a single organ pipe, you have the opportunity to progress to premium friend status, whereby after a certain number of years of support you will receive, free of charge, an additional adjacent organ pipe, either in front or behind.\*) This pipe will already be reserved for you from the start of your friend period.
You may also choose to become a premium friend straight away by committing to the adoption of an organ pipe for several years (in which case you will immediately receive a complimentary concert!) or by adopting a row of organ pipes, an entire organ register (the quintadena), or other large components of the Fokker organ (for ultra-premium friend status). Please read below about the different ways in which you can support our foundation.


1) Become a friend:

€ 31 – You become a friend and receive the above-mentioned benefits, such as an adoption certificate.
With this, you adopt a small organ pipe from the Roerfluit register. After 4 years, you will become a “premium friend” and adopt the adjacent organ pipe from the Salicionaal register free of charge.

€ 62 – You become a friend and receive the above-mentioned benefits, such as an adoption certificate.
With this, you adopt a large organ pipe from the Roerfluit register. After 2 years, you will become a “premium friend” and adopt the adjacent organ pipe from the Prestant register free of charge. One year later, you will become a “premium friend” again and adopt a third organ pipe from the Salicionaal register.

€ 93 – You become a friend and receive the above-mentioned benefits, such as an adoption certificate.
With this, you adopt the largest organ pipe from the Roerfluit register. After 1 year, you will become a “premium friend” and adopt the adjacent organ pipe from the Prestant register free of charge. One year later, you will become a “premium friend” again and adopt a third organ pipe from the Salicionaal register.

2) Become a premium friend:

€ 155 (5 x 31 euros) – You immediately become a premium friend and adopt the first row of six organ pipes from the Roerfluit register of the medium-sized category. At the same time, you also adopt the adjacent organ pipes from the Salicionaal register free of charge. Furthermore, you may attend one concert annually (for two persons). As a premium friend, you will also receive an adoption certificate and all other benefits.

€ 217 (7 x 31 euros) – You immediately become a premium friend and adopt a row of four organ pipes from the Roerfluit register of the largest category. At the same time, you also adopt the adjacent organ pipes from the Prestant and Salicionaal registers free of charge. You may attend one concert annually (for two persons). As a premium friend, you will also receive an adoption certificate and all other benefits.

3) Become a supra friend:

€ 403 (13 x 31 euros) – You become a supra friend and adopt the entire wind machine, enjoying the gentle humming sound that can be heard during every performance on the Fokker organ. You may attend two concerts annually of your choice (for two persons). As a supra friend, you will of course also receive an adoption certificate with a drawing of the wind machine, as well as all other benefits.

€ 961 (31 x 31 euros) – You become a supra friend and adopt a double (2 x 31 pipes) and complete row of organ pipes, namely Prestant and Salicionaal with the range gi2–g3. The organist will perform an improvisation especially for you, divided across two manuals. You may annually attend three concerts free of charge (for one to three persons) or two concerts (for five persons) of your choice. As a supra friend, you will of course also receive an adoption certificate and all other benefits.

4) Become a sponsor:

€ 1023 (33 x 31 euros) – You become a sponsor and adopt a full row of organ pipes from the Subbass pedal with the range ci–f. The organist will play these bass tones especially for you by performing a brief pedal improvisation. In addition, you may annually attend three concerts free of charge (for one to four persons) or two concerts (for six persons) of your choice. As a sponsor, you will of course also receive an adoption certificate and additional benefits (to be discussed), such as the possibility of being named as a sponsor on our website and in other publicity materials.

€ 1271 (41 x 31 euros) – You become a sponsor and adopt the entire Quintadena register (not visible in the drawing) of the Fokker organ. The organist will also perform Larghetto by composer Hans Kox on the Quintadena especially for you. In addition, you may annually attend five concerts free of charge (for one to four persons) or four concerts (for five persons) of your choice. As a sponsor, you will of course also receive an adoption certificate and additional benefits (to be discussed), such as being named as a sponsor on our website and in other publicity materials.

€ 1922 (62 x 31 euros) – You become a sponsor and adopt the entire console of the Fokker organ. The organist will also perform excerpts from Suite of Small Sound Pieces by composer Henk Badings especially for you. In addition, you may attend all six Fokker organ concerts free of charge annually (for one to five persons) (or, by arrangement, a number of concerts with more participants). As a sponsor, you will of course also receive an adoption certificate and additional benefits (to be discussed), such as being named as a sponsor on our website and in other publicity materials.

Free amount (from 10 euros) – You donate a free amount to the foundation and gain the pleasant feeling of support. From a donation of 25 euros onwards, your donation will be placed in one of the categories above, and you will receive the corresponding benefits.

Friends of the Huygens-Fokker Foundation (Stichting Vrienden van de St. Huygens-Fokker)

In order to better represent the interests of friends, it was decided in the early 1970s to establish the Friends of the Huygens-Fokker Foundation. Among its aims was to involve friends more closely in the activities of the Huygens-Fokker Foundation. By becoming a premium friend or sponsor you automatically join the foundation as a friend, with the associated benefits.
