Note
This
page was the attempt to list those BP events that the site's caretaker
had become aware of. This task has been abandoned in 2013 because
it became more and more impossible to present a comprehensive
preview. What is left has to be considered an incomplete historical
record of BP activities in the years 2008 to 2012.

"Stimmgabeln
(Tuning Forks)", Bohlen-Pierce scale, 3073 Hz, 3344 Hz, 3639
Hz, 3960 Hz, 4309 Hz
by Florian Hecker
Program quotation:
In his latest solo performances Hecker has filled practically
empty galleries and institutions with "pure" sound art,
his intention being to subject the spatialisation of sound to
critical scrutiny and to construct abstract sound spaces. At TRIENNALE
LINZ Hecker has a set of tuning forks at the ready, which are
tuned according to the Bohlen-Pierce scale, a harmonic scale that
does not feature the octave among its intervals. This scale enables
a new, integrative way of thinking about sound and of appreciating
it, which, compared to traditional experience, succeeds in at
least partly disconnecting the source of sound and its spatial
propagation. Hecker describes the metaphorical idea of a disengagement
of the perceived sound source from the real one as an aspect that,
in addition to their ambiguous character as instruments or rather
tools, he finds particularly interesting about tuning forks. The
Tuning forks may be borrowed on a trial basis from the service
desk of the OK .

Performing on unique musical instruments created by instrument-makers Stephen Fox and Gayle Young, as well as instruments designed and built by university architecture and engineering students under the guidance of David Lieberman, the concert will feature new works by Gayle Young, Emily Doolittle, Jascha Narveson, video by Reinhard Reitzenstein and a new work by Peter Hannan with choreographed interpretation by dancer Yvonne Ng, based on the composer's recent experience in Lesotho. The concert will also include works by Owen Bloomfield, Todd Harrop and the North American premiere of Beyond the Horizon by German composer Georg Hajdu, a primary inspiration for the Bohlen-Pierce project. This performance will be preceded by a solo set by Jesse Stewart featuring improvisations on natural materials and waterphone.

"Beyond the Horizon" by Georg Hajdu
Program quotation:
elektronischer Entgrenzung.

and Nora-Louise Müller (Bohlen-Pierce clarinets), Andrej

"Beyond the Horizon" by Georg Hajdu
Program quotation:
Beyond the Horizon für zwei Bohlen-Pierce-Klarinetten
M. Krauss und Robert J. Scherrer (End of Cosmology?)
